02Situation
Where it started.
The site was a catalog. Machine quotes came in by phone. Service had no offer at all, so the highest-margin line was invisible to anyone who had not already met a rep.
What we made
- An in-market machine inquiry path, so a shop looking at a mill lands somewhere that asks the right three questions.
- Preventive maintenance and crib vending written up as real offers, not a line on a capabilities page.
- A weekly shop list: what is in stock, what is moving, what is worth a call.
- A scoreboard by branch, so a branch manager can see the queue without asking head office.
How AI was used
Drafts for the machine pages, the weekly list and the follow-up sequence were produced with AI from the product data and the questions the reps already ask. A person cut them, fixed the specifications, and approved every send.
“We finally stopped losing machine quotes in voicemail.”
